The Similasan eye drops, eye sprays and eye wipes are made of natural ingredients. The most important natural components and their function are listed below.

  • Calendula officinalis (Marigold)

    Calendula officinalis, or marigold, is a medicinal plant which grows in the sunny regions of Southern Europe and Asia. In the homeopathic literature Calendula is known for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It acts as a soothing agent because it relaxes the nerves. Additionally the Marigold flower has a healing effect on the skin.

  • Cardiospermum halicacabum (Balloon flower)

    Cardiospermum halicacabum, also known as balloon plant or flower, is found in subtropical regions such as Africa, South America, India and Australia. The plant is known for it’s anti-inflammatory, itch- and pain-killing properties.

  • Chamomilla recutita (Chamomile)

    Chamomilla or chamomile is found in Europe, Asia, America and Australia and is, since acient times, used for its healing qualities, anti-septic properties and pleasant smell. In the homeopathic literature, chamomile is known for its calming properties, such as fatigue and hypersensitivity of the nervous system.

  • Crocus sativus (Saffron crocus)

    Crocus sativus is used to harvest saffron and is therefor known as one of the worlds most extraordinary spices. In the Ayurvedic medicine the essential oil from the saffron crocus has calming and antipyretic properties. Above all the crocus sativus supports a good mental balance and mood.

  • Euphrasia officinalis (Eyebright)

    Euphrasia officinalis is often called eyebright or eyewort because of its healing characteristics. Eyebright contains i.a. tanning substances and flavonoids. Tanning substances have a contracting effect and flavonoids fight microorganisms that cause eye problems. The herbal plant is used ever since the 14th century as a medicine for all kinds of eye ailments. It has a soothing influence on tired, burning, red or dry eyes and has an antiseptic and anti-allergic effect.

  • Viola Tricolor (heartsease)

    Viola tricolor comes from the family of the melanium (“the pansies”) and is found in most regions in Europe. The heartsease is known as a herbal medicine since the 16th century and has a favorable effect on itching, skinrash and sores. It has a relieving and soothing effect, and stimulates a healthy recovery of the skin.
